The Ramp-up Reading and Literacy Program raises awareness and excitement about the importance of reading and literacy in today’s youth. This program was created in partnership with The Barbara Bush Foundation For Family Literacy, General Mills and Kohl’s. Together, tens of thousands of books have been donated and distributed since 2012 to children in hundreds of cities throughout 11 different states including the State of Texas.
This summer and back to school program allows volunteers to spend time reading aloud to the children and encouraging them to explore the adventures that books can bring. Being able to give each child a book enhanced the program by promoting family literacy at home. We hope that by putting these books into the hands of young children, we will inspire their hearts and minds to grow.
