Kids Matter International is committed to making a significant impact in the lives of children in need through a variety of empowering programs. Our mission focuses on enhancing the lives of school-age children who live at or below the poverty level, providing them with essential resources and support. By offering free programs that address critical needs such as clothing, food, and educational materials, we strive to create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
One of our flagship initiatives is the Around The Block (ATB) program, which fosters direct interaction between our leadership team, volunteers, and the children we serve. This collaborative effort, in partnership with organizations like KOHLS Department Store, Twisted X Global Brands, and the McCarty Family Trust, has positively impacted over 20,900 children since its inception. Through ATB, we not only provide essential items but also create lasting relationships that empower children and their families, helping them navigate challenges and build a brighter future.

AROUND THE BLOCK VOLUNTEER
Around The Block is our main program that takes place every November. Last year, we clothed over 2,000 children! Volunteers are needed to shop with the children and their families, as well as set up and close the event.
This morning is truly an experience never to forget and allows our volunteers to directly interact with the children we serve and impact for the better. Let the children be your inspiration to sign up online and volunteer!
Kids Matter provides each child with a $100 voucher to spend on clothes and shoes. Families are partnered with volunteers (like you) who help them shop and select new clothes at KOHL’S department stores.
Join us in making a difference! Sign up to spend your morning helping children shop for new clothing, shoes, and backpacks. For every $100 raised, a child in need is provided with $300 worth of basic necessities through the Around the Block Program.
Ramp Up Reading Literacy Program Overview
The Ramp Up Reading Literacy Program raises awareness and excitement about the importance of reading and literacy in today’s youth. This summer and back-to-school program allows volunteers to spend time reading aloud to the children and encouraging them to explore the adventures that books can bring. Being able to give each child a book enhanced the program by promoting family literacy at home. We hope that by putting these books into the hands of young children, we will inspire their hearts and minds to grow.
In addition to Kohl’s employees, Kids Matter volunteers also give their time and efforts to directly impact the kids. Get involved today and make a difference!
We partner with the Colleyville/Grapevine Independent School District for their Homework Buddies Program through the school year. If you want to significantly impact the life of a child, then become a Homework Buddy. There are so many first through fourth graders in the Colleyville/Grapevine Independent School District system who need help with their homework with emphasis on reading and comprehension skills. You don’t need to have any special certifications. What we need are enthusiastic, engaged, and dedicated volunteers who are ready to help a child.
