Kids Matter International was founded in 2006 out of Southlake, Texas. Originally called Houses of Hope Texas in affiliation with Houses of Hope International, our focus was supporting a women’s center in Honduras for housing female children who had suffered from abuse. Our goal was to expand the facility into a live-in school for these young women and help break the cycle of abuse.
In addition to supporting the housing center in Honduras, Houses of Hope Texas expanded to helping an orphanage in Guatemala and Andhra Pradesh, India. Our mission was to help these facilities bring in more children and expand what they could offer.
That same year in 2006, we presented an opportunity to our local community in North Texas to help children in need through a clothing program. Volunteers shopped with 50 kids at a local Kohl’s Department Store in Valley Ranch, Texas. This program developed into one of our key programs and events to date, Around The Block.
Within one year, we were successfully raising funds for and supporting our international and local programs that served the needs of disadvantaged children in the communities. In 2007, Houses of Hope Texas officially became Kids Matter International.
In June 2016, Kids Matter celebrated 10 years of growth and success. Today, 95% of funds raised go to support programs and services for needy children within the United States. Your support allows us to continue our mission of helping children in need by providing programs that empower them and enhance their lives.
